James D. Bassett
James D. ?Papa? Bassett died July 5, 2002, in a Texarkana, Texas, hospital after a two-year battle with cancer. Mr. Bassett was born Sept. 3, 1931, in Chelsea, Okla. He was formerly of Pueblo, Colo. Mr. Bassett was a member of Grace Church of Nash, Texas, and served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. He was a lifetime member of Disabled American Veterans and retired from Red River Army Depot as a woodworker. Mr. Bassett was an avid fisherman and traveler and loved camping in the Colorado Rockies. He was a former member of St. Charles Senior Citizens Club and Share Colorado in Pueblo, Colo. He was preceded in death by his father Albert Bassett. Mr. Bassett is survived by his wife Judy Bassett of Texarkana, Texas; two daughters and sons-in-law, Dona and Richard Skaggs of Pueblo, Colo., Tami and Randy Henson of Texarkana, Texas; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Mike and Jamie Bassett of Texarkana, Texas, and Russell Bassett of Texarkana, Texas; seven grandchildren, Jennifer (Steven) Hicks, Bradley Bassett, Randy Henson Jr., Ashley Bassett, Sandi Bassett and Brittney Bassett, all of Texarkana, Texas, and Jeremy Skaggs of Pueblo, Colo.; his mother, Ann Bassett of Pueblo, Colo.; two sisters, Joanna (Wayne) Miller and Kay (Fred) Quint, both of Pueblo, Colo.; as well as numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. Services will be at 2 p.m., Wednesday, July 10, 2002, at Roselawn Chapel, Roselawn Cemetery & Funeral Home, interment to follow. The family will be at 191 Lakeshore Drive, Texarkana, TX, 75501, and at 1576 Bronco Drive, Pueblo, CO, 81006.
