  Notes	William Elliot Bassett graduated from Yale College in 1850. He studied theology at Union Theological Seminary in New York and in the Divinity school at New Haven, Connecticut. He was ordained pastor of the Congregational Church of Central Village, Connecticut on 14 February 1856. He became the acting pastor in North Manchester, Connecticut in January 1860. He was installed pastor at Warren, Connecticut on 12 October 1864. He lived in New Haven from 1876 to 1879.
