Violet Bassett
Ms. Violet Bassett, 90, of Lake City, passed away on Wednesday November 25, 2015 at the Shands at University of Florida Cancer Center after an extended illness. She was born in Pensacola, FL, on October 13, 1925. She has lived in the Lake City area since the 1960šs, moving here with her husband who retired from the military. She was a homemaker who loved her family and never met a stranger; she loved to sit on the wooden bench out by the nurse's station at Willowbrook and greet the residents and visitors as they came and went. She is preceded in death by her loving husband Lester M. Bassett. She is survived by her children: Voncile (Otto) Pursifull of Lake City, Rose Parnell of Lake City, Violet Sutton of Pensacola, Lester P. Bassett of Lake City, Samuel (Shelia) Bassett of Starke, Kenneth (Darlena) Bassett of Lake City, David (Denise) Bassett of Lake City, Roger (Trish) Bassett of South Carolina and Michael (Tina) Bassett of Jacksonville. Numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren also survive. Funeral services for Ms. Bassett will be conducted on Tuesday December 1, 2015 at 1 P.M. in the chapel of the Dees-Parrish Family Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Monday evening, November 30, 2015 from 6-8 P.M. in the chapel of the Funeral Home. Arrangements are under the direction and care of the Dees-Parrish Family Funeral Home, 458 S. Marion Ave, Lake City, 32025.
