A native of North, he was a son of the late Nathan and Esther Bass. He was a graduate of the University of South Carolina and practiced law in Chicago for 32 years. He completed law school at the University of Michigan, after serving as a B-25 bombardier-navigator in the Army-Air Corp during World War II. He received the Air Medal and other decorations during combat duty in North Africa. Surviving are sons, Herbert and Raymond Bass of Chicago; sisters, Mrs. Isaac (Ruth) Jacobs of Charleston, Mrs. Arthur (Frances) Ginsberg of Bishopville, Marsha Brody of Cheltonham, Pa., and Mrs. Joseph (Lucille) Lipsipz of Beaufort; a brother, Jack Bass of Columbia; and grandchildren. Services will be held this afternoon in Chicago.
