Mrs. Sara Ann Baas Smith, 73 of Monroeville passed away Tuesday, July 11, 2017 at Monroe Manor Nursing Home. Mrs. Smith worked for Vanity Fair for many years as a seamstress. She was of the Baptist faith and was a member of First Baptist Church of Frisco City and also attended Shiloh Church with her parents when she was a child. Mrs. Smith is preceded in death by her parents; Luther Carl Baas and Verona Riley Baas, one daughter; Regina Smith, two sisters; Margaret Johnson and Mary Lloyd Baas, and her grandparents; Burney Sawyer and Zebra Baas.
She is survived by two sons; Tommy Ray Smith Jr. of Excel and Shannon Edgar Smith and wife Stefanie of Brewton. six daughters; Cynthia Marie Whidbee of Mobile, Brenda Renee Smith and husband Craig of Uriah, Darlene Chavis of Frisco City, Sharon Diane Smith of Frisco City, Teresa Gail Owens and husband Curtis of Excel and Tammy Deneece Smith of Uriah; one brother; William Baas of Nebraska; seventeen grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren.
Funeral services for Mrs. Smith will be Saturday, July 15, 2017 at 3:30 P.M. at Monroe Chapel Funeral Home with Rev. Bobby Boatwright officiating. Burial will follow at Union Cemetery in Frisco City. Visitation will be Friday, July 14, 2017 from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home.
