Bass
Michael J. Bass, 59, of Edmond, went to be with his Lord on Thursday, October 7, 2010. He was born on March 13, 1951, in Oklahoma City to Dona and Bertie Bass. Michael married his high school sweetheart, Janet Lynn Herrmann, on June 15, 1973. An illustration of lavish devotion and unending faithfulness, he made every day a blessing for his wife. He was a loving father who delighted in his children and was happily awaiting the birth of his first grandson. His life?s example was a picture of a true servant?s heart; Mike always put God and his family first. He served as a deacon for over 25 years at Quail Springs Baptist Church. Ask anyone, and they?ll tell you ? Mike was a good man. He was gifted with a wonderful sense of humor and kept everyone grounded while bringing out the best in them. Evidence of his faith in Jesus was demonstrated as Mike lived three lifetimes in one from all that he put into every day. He was a lifelong friend, faithful to a fault, putting aside his own needs to fulfill the needs of others. Mike worked at Bass and Associates for 40 years and was a skilled mechanical consultant, who was well known across the country for his innovative designs. Michael is survived by his best friend and wife of 36 years, Janet; daughter and son-in-law, Emily Michelle and Chris Wiser of Edmond; son, Adam Michael Bass of Edmond; mother, Bertie Bass of Cashion; sister, Sabrina Bass, sister, Kimberly Bass; brother, Mark Bass; mother-in-law, Sally Stroud of Houston; and extended family and friends. Mike was preceded in death by his father, Donald J. Bass. Arrangements are being handled by Smith & Kernke Funeral Home, 14625 N. May Ave., OKC, OK 73134. A memorial service will be held Tuesday, October 12, at 2:00 pm, at Quail Springs Baptist Church, 14613 N. May Ave., Oklahoma City, OK 73134. Friends and family can honor Mike with floral tributes or contributions to the Quail Springs Baptist Church Building Fund.
