William Michael Bass
William Michael Bass, 58, died Jan. 29, 2000.
Mr. Bass was a native of Portsmouth and the son of the late Vollie and Eleanor Keaton. He retired from the Norfolk Naval Shipyard as a woodcrafter after 20 years.
He is survived by his wife, Virginia T. Bass; three daughters, Diane Hobbs of Chesapeake, Vickie Shelton of Virginia Beach and Cassandra Williamson of Windsor; two sons, Kenneth Green of Chesapeake and Travis Bass of Portsmouth; one sister, Delma Hayes of Coral Springs, Fla.; one brother, James Bass of South Mills, N.C.; and seven grandchildren.
A funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday in Sturtevant Funeral Home, Portsmouth Blvd. Chapel, by the Rev. G.W. Harley. Burial will be in Meadowbrook Memorial Gardens Mausoleum. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday and also at 2316 Meiggs Road, Chesapeake. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Heart Association.
