Donald J. Bass, 86, of Hahira died Monday, March 1, 2021 at his residence. He was born September 27, 1934 in Lowndes County to the late Titus Bass and Florence Gladys Carter Bass. Mr. Bass retired after forty one years as supervisor at Crackin Good Bakeries. He served in the United States Army. Mr. Bass was a member of Pineview Baptist Church and served as a deacon. He enjoyed gardening, fishing, spending time with family and friends, reading and watching westerns and traveling.
Mr. Bass is survived by his wife, Mary Louelle Bass of Hahira, son and daughter in law, Kenny and Gail Bass of Hawkinsville, son and daughter in law, Steve and Debbie Bass of Pinetta, FL, daughter and son in law, Tammy and Gene Shintock of Gainesville, son and daughter in law, Timmy and Kristen Bass of Hahira, grandchildren, April and Jason Cummings, Valerie and Anthony Folsom, Mitch Bass and Mary Bass, Christy and David Adams, Clay Bass and Brian Meeks, Geno Shintock, Josh and Emily Bass, Justin and Lexi Bass, great grandchildren, Christian Crowe and Hyerin, Cameron Cummings, Morgan Barnes, Garrett Cantrell, Trinton Bass, Molly Bass, Maddox Bass, Kaleb Kollar, Carter Adams, Daniel Adams, Harper Bass and Lorelie Bass, great great grandchildren, Taylor Cummings and Caroline Crowe, sisters in law, Lorene Bass of Valparaiso, FL and Julia Bass of Hahira, several nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, great granddaughter, Courtney Cummings, sister, Betty Bass and brothers, Jerry Bass and David Bass.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, March 4, 2021 at two p. m. at the Martin McLane Funeral Home in Hahira. Reverend Art Harris will officiate. The family will receive friends from one until two p. m. prior to the service. Condolences to the family may be expressed online at www.mclanecares.com.
