Helen L. Bassett
EAST CHINA TWP. - Helen L. Bassett, age 92, of East China Twp., died July 8, 2006. She was born March 14, 1914 in Marine City to Edward and Lucy (Beauvais) Sadler. Helen married Harold C. Bassett on June 18, 1942 in Marine City. He preceded her in death May 12, 2002. Helen was a lifelong member of Holy Cross Parish, she graduated from Holy Cross High School in 1932. She was a D of I member of over 65 years and also a member of the Alter Society. Helen owned and operated Lou Ann's Beauty Salon with her daughter, Lou Ann, in East China Twp. She is survived by her children, Joe (Margaret) Bassett, Lou Ann (Richard) DeBuque, and Al (Sandra) Bassett; ten grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; sister, Lucy Schriener; sistersinlaw, Lorena Sadler and Esther Gilbert; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a sister, Margaret Durand; brothers, Leo, Norman, Bernard, and Rev. Alfred Sadler. Funeral services will begin at 10:15 a.m. Wednesday at Young Colonial Chapel Funeral Home and process to Holy Cross Catholic Church, Marine City, for a funeral mass at 11 a.m. Interment will be in Rosehill Cemetery, East China Twp. Visiting hours are 2 to 4 and 6 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at Young Colonial Chapel Funeral Home. A rosary will be said at 7 p.m. Tuesday. Memorial contributions in Helen's name may be made to the Fr. Alfred Sadler Memorial Fund or the charity of the donor's choice.
