Bassett, 64, of Fortner Drive, a former resident of Port Huron and Marysville, died unexpectedly Friday in Sinai Hospital, Detroit. Mr. Bassett was born Oct. 9, 1913, in Port Huron. He was employed by Chrysler Corp. He married Marguerite Bailey. He is survived by his wife; a son, Gregory Basstt, Center Line; a daughter, Debra Bassett, Sterling Heights; three grandsons; six brothers, Melvin, Bruce, Evert and Elmer Bassett, all of Port Huron, Meldrum Bassett, Cold Water, Fla., and John Bassett, Sun City, Ariz.; five sisters, Mrs. Margaret Roskey, Mrs. Evelyn Curtis, and Miss Marie Bassett, all of Port Huron, and Mrs. Thresa Kania, New Mexico. Services will be at 1 a.m. Monday in St. Matthais Church on 19-Mile-Road, Sterling Heights. Burial will be in Christian memorial Cemetery, Rochester. Visiting hours at Rudy Funeral Home, Center Line, will be from 2 to 9 p.m. today.
