He was a native of Halifax County, Virginia, and a resident of Roxboro for the past 25 years. He was a Mason. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Celia Daniel Bass; four sisters, Mrs. H.T. Cutts of Creedmoore, Mrs. G.G. Richards of Statesville, Mrs. Regina Dolby of Lodi, California, and Mrs. Arthur Holland of Barstow, California; four brothers, R.G. Bass of Lexington, Kentucky, Roscoe Bass of Wilson and R.A. Jr. and Reginald Bass of Baltimore, Maryland. Funeral services will be conducted at 4:30 p.m. Thursday at the home by the Reverend L.G. Elliott and the Reverend A.L. Thompson. Masonic graveside rites will be conducted in Burchwood Cemetery.
