East Providence ? Alphonse Joseph Bessette
ALPHONSE JOSEPH BESSETTE, 86, of the East Bay Geriatric Center, 70 Turner Ave., formerly of Houghton Street, Barrington, a lace weaver for the former Rhode Island Lace Works of Barrington for 50 years before retiring in 1986, died yesterday in Rhode Island Hospital. He was the husband of the late Martanella (Russell) Bessette.
Born in Central Falls, a son of the late Michael A. and Eva (Jette) Bessette, he lived in East Providence for the last year, previously living in Barrington for 50 years. Mr. Bessette was a member of the Barrington Senior Center.
He leaves a son, Arthur J. Bessette of Belchertown, Mass.; four brothers, Everett Bessette, Edmond Bessette, Eugene Bessette and Leo Bessette, all of East Providence; two sisters, Estelle Coutu of West Warwick and Gladys Panzarella of East Providence; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be held Monday at 11:30 a.m. from the W. Raymond Watson Funeral Home, 350 Willett Ave., Riverside, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 12:30 in St. Brendan Church, Turner Avenue, Riverside. Burial will be in Forest Chapel Cemetery, Barrington.
