Bass Portsmouth - Thelma Arlene Bass, age 82, formerly of the 5500 block of Briarwood Lane, passed away on Saturday, April 21, 2012 in a local retirement center. She was a native of Waltham, Mass. and was a member of Nansemond River Baptist Church. She was predeceased by her husband George W. Bass, Sr., her son, George W. Bass, Jr. and her brother Norman Tibbetts and her parents, Mabel Estelle and Francis A. Tibbetts. She is survived by two sons, William Bass and wife Terri of Chesapeake, Robert Bass of Portsmouth, a daughter-in-law, Dianne Bass of Wilmington, N.C.; seven grandchildren, George William Bass, Stephanie Bass, Lori Bass, Brooke Bass, Robert J. Bass, Ashley Bass and George W. Bass, III. A funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. Tuesday, April 24 in Sturtevant Funeral Home, Portsmouth Blvd. Chapel.
