Richard V. Bassett II
Richard V. Bassett II, known affectionately as Dick to his family and friends, passed away on April 1, 2025, at the age of 69, in Middleville, Michigan. Born on September 18, 1955, in Detroit, Michigan, Dick was a man known for his vibrant spirit and infectious humor.
Dick was a graduate of Cass City High School and Central Michigan University. He worked diligently at Kalamazoo Plug for over two decades and then at Bradford Whites in Middleville for 25 years, retiring in 2023.
Dick's life was full of joy and laughter, and he had a knack for storytelling that could captivate any audience. A passionate NASCAR fan, he relished the thrills of the race and the camaraderie of fellow enthusiasts. College football season was another highlight for him, especially when Central Michigan faced off against Western Michigan, a rivalry that sparked much friendly debate.
Above all, Dick cherished the time spent with his family. He is survived by his loving children: Shawn (Shannon) Kimbrue, Shannon (Stacey) Kimbrue, Andy (Nelysha) Bassett, and Echo (Ryan Stanton) Bassett; his adored 12 grandchildren; a great-grandson; his sister, Romayne Allen; and his former spouse and friend, Lee Bassett. He was preceded in death by his parents, Richard Sr. and Anne Elizabeth Bassett, his grandson Logan Kimbrue, and his beloved Quincy.
Dick's legacy is one of laughter, love, and the treasured stories he leaves behind. His memory will continue to be celebrated by all who knew him, and his spirit will be deeply missed.
