Charles Clayton Bassett
It is with profound sadness that the family announces the passing of Charles Clayton Bassett (72) died April 2nd 2025. His unexpected passing was due to complications of double pneumonia. He was born November, 7th 1952. Preceded in death by his Mother Grace E. Bassett, Father Charles S. Bassett Jr., Nephew Jason and Niece Jennifer.
Clayton is survived by his husband Wess Plank of 38 years, his Sister Pamela Thayer, her Husband David Thayer, Nephew Joshua Thayer, of Huger, S.C., many cousins, dear friends and their beloved cat Stitch.
Clayton was a native Cape Codder and employed by Christmas Tree Shops for over 40 years, a job he loved as well as the 1000's of customers he helped.
Clayton had many interests; love of animals, an avid reader, gardening, entertaining friends, traveling, dancing, going to the beach, long walks, giving great hugs, and staying home with Wess and their pets. His compassion for others and his laugh will be forever missed.
Clayton was sober for 39 years thanks to the people at 'Pause A While' and friends of Bill W.
Clayton's wish was to have his ashes spread on Cape Cod Bay (date to be determined).
Please leave a message of remembrances, Wess would love to hear from you.
