Betty Bledsoe Bass
Betty Jean Bledsoe Bass born March 13, 1934 to Florrie and John Bledsoe originally from Andalusia, passed away April 29, 2025.
Graveside services for Mrs. Bass will be held 3 PM Friday, May 2, 2025 at Andalusia Memorial Cemetery.
She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Kim Barelare (John) of Crane Hill, AL; her grandchildren, Michelle Cathey (Daniel) of Chattanooga, and Matthew Mangham (Anna Kate) of Birmingham, AL; her great-grandchildren, Clara Cathey, Wesley Cathey, Emmy Cathey, Noah Cathey, Charlotte Mangham; her sisters-in-law, Doris Tyler, and Shirley Veasey of Andalusia
She graduated from Andalusia High School in May 1952. Two years later she married Marlon Jerome Bass May 14, 1954 and they were married for 52 years. They lived in Andalusia most of their lives where they began Bass Oil Company.
She was a member of The First Baptist Church of Andalusia where she was involved in teaching Children's Sunday School, attended Women's Sunday School, and along with her husband help start the Bus Ministry. She was also a member of the Covington County Bank Auxillary Business and Professional Women's Organization where she became President. She was in the local chapter of the Civil Air Patrol, and volunteered with The American Red Cross earning her the Distinguished Volunteer of the year award.
She and Marlon enjoyed motor homing with friends for many years with The Good Sam's Club. She enjoyed square dancing and participating in a bowling league. For many years she enjoyed working outside in her yard. More recent years she resided in Birmingham and then Cullman in assisted living. She brought smiles and was loved by the nursing staff at Woodland Village in Cullman, AL. She will be dearly missed. Family and friends may sign the online register at www.foremanfuneralhome.com.
