GALVESTON — Elbe Bassett, Jr., 64 passed away from this life on Wednesday, October 27, 2010 at West Memorial Hospital. Elbe was born October 1, 1946, in Galveston, Texas to the union of Elbe and Juanita Bassett, Sr. He was a 1965 graduate of Central High School. He worked with the Texas Department of Transportation-Galveston Ferry for 20 years. Elbe is preceded in death by his first wife of 38 years, Linda C. Bassett, his son Bobby Bassett, and daughter, Yolanda Alexander, and his mother Juanita Bassett, and his grandparents Alex and Alzena Bassett who raised him and is also known as his parents. Elbe also proceeds in death his aunt/sister Leola Pines and Rose Wilson.He is survived by his father Elbe Bassett, Sr., second wife Delores Walters Bassett, son Elbe Bassett, III, (Bessie), daughters, Juanita Bassett, & Michelle Bassett Hollins, (David), and Katrina & Shareba Bassett, and step-sons, Freddie Garnett, and Authur Walters.He is also survived by his devoted uncle Leon Bassett, brother, Alex Bassett, and cousin Vera Pines, 15 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.Visitation will be at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 6, 2010, at Jerusalem Baptist Church, 2717 Ball Avenue, Galveston, Texas 77550, followed by Funeral Services at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor A.S.
