Born in Blounts-town, FL, he was a longtime resident of Springfield. He was a Vietnam veteran of the US Marine Corps. Louis is survived by his mother, Catherine Bass of Springfield; a sister, Patricia Steward-Goggins (and her husband, Rev. Morris Goggins) of Dayton, OH; two brothers, Reginald K. Bass of Springfield and Anthony "Tony" Bass of Cranston, RI. The calling hour is 11 a.m. to noon Friday at Mt. Zion Baptist Church, followed by the funeral at noon, with burial in Massachusetts Veterans Memorial Cemetery at Agawam. Harrell Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
