      Norma June Basse

      WORLAND - Norma June Basse, 85, passed away Friday, Oct. 19, 2012 at her home in Thermopolis surrounded by her family. June was born in a little cabin at the foot of the hills on Deadman Creek, Dawes County, Neb. on July 30, 1927 to Arthur and Valle (Wilson) Pierce. She attended schools in Crawford, Chadron and Belmont, Neb., graduating from Crawford High School in 1945. She married Richard Basse in Chadron on Jan. 14, 1949.

      Before her marriage, June worked for Nash Finch and Ben Franklin in Crawford. Richard and June lived in Chappell, Neb., Glenwood Springs and Eagle, Colo. and Rawlins before moving to Thermopolis in 1951. June partnered with Richard and Jack Eaton in establishing Jack & Dick's Electric, now known as JADECO, Inc. June's most cherished occupation was as a housewife and mother.

      The couple were the parents of four children: Richard (Virginia) of Worland, Cathy (Ron) Lance of Riverton, and Keith (Cindy) and Brad (Leslie) of Thermopolis. Lynne (Jeff) Milton of Dubois joined the family during her high school years as an informally adopted child.

      June was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Thermopolis for over 60 years. Her greatest joy was her family. She was a very accomplished cook and baker. Lavish Christmas, Thanksgiving and birthday celebrations are fondly remembered by all.

      She was preceded in death by her parents and two infant sisters.

      June is survived by her husband, Richard; her four children; nine grandchildren; 16 greatgrandchildren as well as Lynne's three children and three grandchildren. She is also survived by her brother, Loy Pierce; Richard's sister, Doris (Bill) Toliver of Crawford; and sister-in-law, Sharon Basse of Thermopolis.

      Funeral services will be held at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Thermopolis at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 24 with internment of cremains following at Riverside Cemetery.
