John C. Bassett
John C. Bassett, age 87, of Northampton, passed away on Dec. 6th, 2025, in the comfort of his home surround by his family. He was the loving husband of Doreen (McCully) Bassett.
Born in Sykesville, PA he was the son of the late John and Alfreda (Larson) Bassett
John was a graduate of Penn State, DuBois PA and Ramapo College, Mahwah, NJ. John proudly served his country in the United States Navy. He retired from Western Union, Upper Saddle River, NJ and AT&T.
In retirement he kept busy making coffee at Wawa in Trexlertown, PA where made many friends serving them their daily coffee. He spent his later years in Myrtle Beach, SC and Florida, moving back to PA in 2023 to be closer to family which was very important to him.
In addition to his wife of 51 years, Doreen, he is survived by daughter Laurel Ann Aiyana with husband Dan Pauley, sons John Charles Bassett with wife Lori, William Kurt Bassett with wife Jamie, Brian Lee Bassett, Richard William Scherb with wife Cindy, David Robert Scherb with wife Lynn and Peter Matthew Scherb, 16 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren, several nieces, nephews and cousins and of course his loyal companion his dog, Toby.
In addition to his parents, John is preceded in passing by his sisters, Mertie Huntington, Ethel McElheny and a Nephew Ronald Huntington.
Services for John will be held privately at the convenience of the family.
