      Joan R. Bessette

      FAIRFAX – Funeral services for Joan R. Bessette, who passed away on Feb. 29, 2004, were held on Wednesday at 11 a.m. in St. Luke’s Catholic Church in Fairfax with the Reverend Francis E. Connors celebrating a Mass of Christian Burial. Music for the Mass was provided by Mary Jo Gillian. Assisting as Eucharistic Ministers were James Groseclose and Joan’s daughter, Marilyn Meier. Altar servers were Jacob, Benjamin and Joseph Langelier.
      The funeral pall was placed upon Joan’s casket by her three daughters, Jo Anne Reynolds, Leshia Paradee and Marilyn Meier. Jo Anne Reynolds then placed the crucifix on the casket.
      Readings from Scripture were professed by granddaughters, Joan Hubbard and Tina LeClair. The Prayer of Petition was led by granddaughter, Chandra Walsh. Eucharistic gifts were presented at the altar by great-grandchildren, Ashton Hubbard, Michaela Remillard and Jacob Reynolds.
      In attendance were representation from Hannafords of St. Albans, Energizer, Women of the Moose, Chapter 321, International Business Machines of Essex, The Nativity Folk Group and St. Luke’s Catholic Church.
      Casket bearers were: Steven Reynolds, Dennis Reynolds, Timothy Hubbard, Jeffrey Hubbard, Robin Sweet, Jr. and Keon LeClair.
      Following Prayers of Committal by Father Connors, interment took place in the family lot in St. Luke’s Cemetery. A luncheon hosted by the Women of St. Luke’s followed the interment services. Father Connors held a Rosary Service with Joan’s family on Tuesday afternoon.
      The Women of the Moose, Chapter 321 held their ritualistic service on Tuesday evening with Sharon Craig as Senior Regent, Josephine Rocheleau as Junior Regent, Arlen Quilliam as Chaplain and Shirley Ovitt as Junior Graduate.
      Arrangements were by the Heald Funeral Home, 87 South Main Street, St. Albans.

      Joan R. (Campbell) Bessette

      ST. ALBANS - Joan R. Bessette, 85, passed away Sunday, Feb. 29, 2004, in Northwestern Medical Center. She was born Oct. 14, 1918, in Bedford, Quebec, the daughter of the late Syliana and Elizabeth (Duval) Campbell. July 31, 1939, Joan married Theodore A. Bessette, who predeceased her April 23, 1989. After their marriage, they farmed in the Franklin County area. They then moved to Seymour, Conn., where Joan was employed by the Waterman Penn Co. Upon their return to Vermont, Joan and Ted owned and operated a farm for 16 years in North Fairfield. When they retired, they moved to St. Albans, where Joan was employed by Martin's food store in the meat department for several years. She was a member of the Women of the Moose, Chapter 321. She enjoyed stamp collecting, crocheting and knitting. Having been brought up in a musical family, Joan's passion for music was passed on to her daughters. Survivors include her three daughters, JoAnne G. Reynolds and her husband, Henry, of Sheldon, Leshia A. Paradee and her husband, Lee, of Swanton, and Marilyn H. Meier and her husband, James, of Milton; her brother, Monsignor Bernard L. Campbell of St. Thomas, Virgin Islands; nine grandchildren, Laurie Fortin, Nancy Ward, Steven Reynolds, Dennis Reynolds, Joan Hubbard, Dixie Hubbard, Chandra Walsh, Tina LeClair and Tara Sweet; 22 great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to her parents and husband, Ted, she was predeceased by a grandson, Richard Remillard, a granddaughter, Sara Remillard, three brothers, Anthony Campbell, Leo Campbell and John Campbell, and a sister, Aldeoda Hebert. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by the Rev. Francis E. Connors on Wednesday, March 3, at 11 a.m. in St. Luke Catholic Church, Huntville Road, Fairfax. Interment will follow in the family lot in St. Luke Cemetery. Joan's family will receive friends Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Heald Funeral Home, 87 S. Main St., St. Albans.
