Merle Bass Ransom
CLARKTON ? Merle Bass Ransom, 72, of Clarkton passed away on Saturday, Feb. 1, 2014.
She was born on Sept. 27, 1941, to the late Lonnie and Glennie Mae McCall Bass. She is preceded in death by her parents; sister, Gladys Butler; brothers, Thomas and Buck Bass.
Merle was a member of New Center Baptist Church, and worked as a dental assistant with the late Dr. Bill Keith for 25 years. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother and enjoyed baking for her family and friends.
The family will receive friends on Monday, Feb. 3, from 6 until 8 p.m. at Bladen- Gaskins Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, Feb. 4, at 11 a.m. at New Center Baptist Church with the Rev. George Langley and the Rev. Kevin Kinlaw officiating. Burial will follow in Meadows Cemetery.
She is survived by her husband of 50 years Marion "Buddy" Ransom of the home; son, Eric Ransom and wife Lea of Clarkton; daughter, Melissa Young and husband Ricky of Rockingham; three sisters, Margaret Heustess of Bladenboro; Faye McLam of Whiteville; Catherine Lennon of Tenn; five grandchildren, Erica Ransom, Brae Foulke, Cade Ransom, Brett and Taylor Young.
