He was born in Wilmington, North Carolina to Bill and Lucille Bass. "Poppy" as he was known by family served in the United States Air Force and was a true American Patriot. He was a lifelong mason and a Shriner. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Emily Rose Williams Bass, his daughter Sarah Lynn of Leland and his granddaughter Shannon: his son Barnett Bass Jr. (Gina) and his grandson Slade Bass and his fiancé Kai, his aunts, uncles, cousins and a host of other beloved family and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents and a grandson Shawn Winkler. Mr. Bass Sr. will always be remembered as a great conversationalist and his love for old classic movies. Services for Mr. Bass Sr. are to be announced at a later date.
