Doris was born on April 6, 1935 in Elsmere, Nebraska to Howard and Vera (Uehling) Smith. She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Henry Bassett; 2 brothers, Harold and Raymond Smith; sister, Darlene Bassett. Doris was a graduate of Winston High School and a member of the Winston United Methodist Church. Doris was an avid sports fan. You would see her at all the home games. She loved the kids and cheered them on, but wasn?t afraid to tell them how the game was supposed to be played. She will be missed on the front row of the bleachers. Survivors: son, Jerry (Martha) Bassett, Gallatin, MO; granddaughter, Tara (Larry) Youtsey, 2 great-grandsons, Cody and Dalton Youtsey, all of Winston; grandchildren she called her own, Tracy(Brent) Burke and Tenley Burke, Trevor Clark, all of Winston, Vicki (Stephen) Golay and family, Atlanta, GA, Becki (Indi) Waters, Jacksonville, FL, Leslie (Rick) Lin, Derrick and Sara Lin, Gallatin, Chuck Cox, Cameron; 3 sisters, Helen Allwood, Liberty, MO, Ruth Ann Stark, Union Star, MO and Joyce (Don) Shoemaker, Basher, KS; several nieces and nephews and all of the Winston Redbirds. Services: 3:00PM, Tuesday, April 9, 2013 at the Winston Methodist Church. Visitation: 2-3:00 PM, prior to the service. Burial: Winston Cemetery, Winston.
