Abraham (Abe) Bessette, Argonne, died Sunday, Dec. 23, at NuRoc Nursing Home, Blackwell, at the age of 90.
Visitation was at Halverson Funeral Home, Crandon, from 4 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 26, with prayers at 7 p.m. Rev. James T. Jacobs officiated at services at 10 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 27, at St. Joseph?s Catholic church here and interment was in Crandon Lakeside cemetery.
Pallbearers included Leroy Gretzinger, Arthur Haines, Eugene Jarvais, Paul Walker, Douglas Bessette, William Walrath, Harold Jezeski Jr. and Clarence Falish.
The son of Joseph and Isabell (Guyette) Bessette was born June 30, 1889 at Bear Creek, Wis. He married Pearl Bodoh in January, 1916, and she died April1, 1944. Mr. Bessette served as supervisor of the town of Lincoln for many years and had served on the Range Line school board in the past. He was engaged in farming and woodswork, and was a member of St. Mary?s Catholic church at Argonne.
Survivors include nine daughters, Mrs. Lela Gretzinger of Argonne; Mrs. Carl (Leta) Haines of Kingman, Arizona; Mrs. Francis (Mayme) Jarvais, Wabeno; Mrs. Kenneth (May) Krusensterna and Miss Pearl Bessette, both of Crandon; Mrs. Carol Krueger, Green Bay; Mrs. Porter (Madline) Lockard, St. Maries, Idaho; Mrs. John (Angeline) Knapek, Deerbrook, and Mrs. Harold (Mary Ann) Jezeski, Argonne; three brothers, Charles Bessette of Appleton; Peter Bessette of New London and Harvey Bessette of Shiocton, 49 grand-children and eight great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to his wife, Mr. Bessette was preceded in death by a daughter, ason, three sisters and five brothers.
