Mary Kathryn Rice Bass
CLINTON ? Mary Kathryn Rice Bass, 75, of 300 E. Johnson St., passed away Friday, Jan. 23, 2026, at Kitty Askins of Goldsboro.
A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, Jan. 28, at 2 p.m. at the Clinton Cemetery with Reverend Steven Keesecker officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service beginning at 1 p.m. at Royal-Hall Funeral Home.
Born on Nov. 29, 1950, in Manhattan, New York, Kathy was the daughter of the late Clark Earl Rice and Mildred Lee Hobbs and was the widow of Allen James "A.J." Bass Jr. She was a Licensed Practical Nurse until her retirement.
Kathy is survived by her son, Alex Chisholm of the home; two daughters, Susannah Chisholm Carter, and husband, Bryan of Mt. Pleasant, South Carolina, and Miriam Abney of Landrum, South Carolina; sister, Brenda Greene of Greenville, South Carolina; three grandchildren, Kathryn Carter, Emma Carroll Carter and Wells Smith.
In addition to her parents and husband, "A.J.," Kathy was preceded in death by her sister, Sharon Buckner.
