Rose Savage Beatty Via
KILL DEVIL HILLS ? Rose Savage Beatty Via, 85, passed away peacefully in her sleep at home in Kill Devil Hills on Jan. 8. 2017.
Rose was a Sampson County native, born to Leroy Leslie Savage and Mary Bliss McCullen Savage.
Rose worked in retail management at Belk in Clinton and Virginia Crabtree and Carolina Clothing Outlet in Lumberton. She was also a homemaker and raised her five children among many others in the neighborhood.
She spent the last 20 years on the Outer Banks enjoying her family. Rose was a member of Colington United Methodist Church.
Rose was preceded in death by her husband, Charlie Arnold Beatty; and two children, Mary (Boots) Austin and Floyd Alan Bass, as well as three sisters.
Surviving to cherish her memory is her husband, Marvin Via; children, Leslie Beatty Avery and husband Glenn, Stephen F. Beatty and wife Linda and daughter Jill Beatty; as well as eight grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
A funeral will be held at 1 p.m. Friday at Colington United Methodist Church, the Rev. Teresa Holloway officiating. Burial will follow at Laurel Memorial Gardens. A reception will be held prior to the service in the Fellowship Hall at 11:30 a.m.
