Mary Frances Bass Austin
Mary "Boots" Bass Austin, 62, of Kill Devil Hills, passed away on the morning of July 19, 2010.
The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at Royal Hall Funeral Home, followed by a graveside service at Bass family cemetery.
She was born in Bass Town, on March 13, 1948, to mother Rose Savage Via and father Floyd J. Bass. Boots, as all who knew her called her, was a loving mother, grandmother, beloved sister, daughter, and aunt.
Boots graduated from Lumberton Senior High School in 1967.
She soon thereafter married and moved to Charlotte, and resided there as a homemaker and employee for Equifax. After her children were grown, she moved to Greenville to be near her children and grandchildren. She was a long-time employee of Walmart and continued to work there until she had to retire for health reasons. Boots was loved by all and she will be missed by all who knew her.
Mary Austin is survived by her parents and stepparents, Mr. and Mrs. Marvin Via of Kill Devil Hills and Mr. and Mrs. Floyd J. Bass of Clinton; her son, Robert Clarence Austin II, and daughter Amy Marie Austin, and granddaughters Mercedes and Jasmine Austin. She is also survived by sisters, Leslie Avery and husband Glenn and Jill Beatty, Stephen Beatty and wife Linda, all of Kill Devil Hills; stepsister, Sheila Smith of Clinton; five nieces; four nephews; and many great-nieces and great-nephews.
The viewing will be from 7 to 9 tonight at Royal Hall Funeral Home.
