Lawrence Alan Bassett

Lawrence Alan Bassett, 59, of Lovettsville, passed away Tuesday, April 28, 2026, at his residence.
He was born November 20, 1966, in Kalamazoo, Michigan, the son of Larry Bassett and Sylvia Brown Bassett.
Lawrence spent most of his life working in construction and was known for the exceptional quality of his work, driven by a sharp eye for detail and a commitment to doing things the right way. He could be a bit stubborn at times, but that same determination was part of what made him who he was. He also spent several years volunteering with the wrestling program at Clarke County High School, where he took pride in helping guide young people and give them a stronger start in life. He enjoyed spending time with his son, friends, and family, as well as caring for his many cats and his late dog, Cody, who was always by his side.
In addition to his father, Larry Bassett, he is survived by his stepmother, Cyndy Bassett; his son, Joshua Ford and his wife, Caitlin Ford; his siblings, Lori LaPenna, Lance and Leslie Bassett; and several nieces and nephews, including AJ Higginbotham, Chase Brooker, Delana Harper.
A service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 9th at Phelps Funeral Chapel, 311 Hope Drive, Winchester, with Pastor Charly Franks officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
Interment will be private.
