William Thomas Bass

Mr. William Thomas Bass, or Bill as most knew him, passed away peacefully at his home in Erwin on September 4, 2022.
Bill was a devoted husband and a loving father as well as grandfather.
Bill was born in Gastonia, NC on August 20, 1947, to the late William E. Bass and survived by his mother, Louise Southards.
He was proud to call Erwin his home. He graduated from Erwin High School in 1965 and retired at the age of 66. He enjoyed his time with his kids and grandkids. Anyone that knew him enjoyed reminiscing with him about the stories he loved to tell. His favorite hobbies were hunting as well as fishing, especially trips to the beach. He also enjoyed reading books, playing his guitar, sports, and classic cars.
He is survived by his wife, Bonnie Blackmon Bass, of fifty-one years; two daughters, April Bass of Coats and Kimberly Beasley and husband, James Gale Beasley of Dunn; a son, Michael Ethan Thomas Bass of Erwin. He was a proud grandfather to Matthew Beasley and Rylan Beasley and was preceded in death by his brother, James Randolph Bass and his sister, Rhonda Morris.
A private service will be held at a later date.
