      October 18, 1951 ? September 14, 2026

Donna Lynn Bass, age 74, of Myrtle Beach, passed away peacefully on September 14, 2026 at her home.
She was born October 18, 1951 in El Paso, Texas, a daughter of the late Alice Mae Cameron Groover and Harry Groover.
Donna had a deep love for her family and treasured the time she spent with both her immediate and extended family. She always put her family first. Affectionately known as ?Nanaw? or ?Groovy? by those who loved her, family gatherings held a special place in her heart. She especially looked forward to the many trips to Florida with her husband and children, where she made a point of gathering with her brothers and sisters and their extended families to spend time together and make lasting memories.
Donna was a talented and creative woman who enjoyed reading, crocheting, and expressing her artistic side through ceramics. She also had a special love for flowers and plants and seemed to have a gift for bringing even the most struggling plant back to life.
For a time, Donna coached girls? softball in Georgetown and Moncks Corner, sharing her encouragement with young athletes in the community. Above all, Donna will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, nanaw, and great nanaw. She handled life?s challenges with quiet dignity and resilient power. She offered kindness, comfort, and an open ear to anyone in need. And she brought brightness, humor, and light to ordinary days. All who knew her, loved her, and she loved them.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Malynda Hope Bass; and her two brothers, Richard Groover and Jerry Groover.
Donna is survived by her loving husband of 59 years, Charles Ellery Bass Jr.; children, Gene Ellery Bass (Melissa O'Rourke), Charles Ellery Bass III (Twyla) and Melissa Bass Ward (Richard); grandchildren, Madison Ward Karnes (Colt), Richard J. Bice Ward, Kayla Bass Fosegan (Aaron), Dylan Bass (Rachel), Connor Bass, Cameron Bass, Drake Bass,?? and Landon Bass; great-grandchildren, Grace Alice Karnes, Eloise Brooke Karnes, and William Jack Karnes; and her sisters, Constance Allman, Evelyn Trumpler, Margaret Malone, Lavonne Massey. She is also survived by many, many loving cousins, nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews.
Memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM, Saturday, September 19, 2026 at Socastee United Methodist Church in the Historic 1875 Sanctuary. Inurnment will follow at the church columbarium.
The family wishes to extend their heartfelt thanks to the compassionate staff at Gentiva Hospice for their loving care. Their dedication, kindness, and support brought peace to Donna and comfort to the entire family and they will be forever grateful for the difference that they made.
