Beatrice Bessette
Beatrice Bessette, 93, of 223 Pickett Rd. passed away peacefully Tuesday evening at her home surrounded by her family. She was born November 19, 1917 in Plainfield a daughter of the late Joseph and Helen (Audette) Monroe and was a lifelong resident of the community. Mrs. Bessette owned and operated Bea's Market in Plainfield for several years, retiring in 1970. She was a communicant of St. John the Apostle Church where she was united in marriage to Laurent Bessette on June 27, 1938. He died January 22, 2001. She leaves three sons, Dr. Robert Bessette of Holden, MA. Paul Bessette of Las Vegas, NV. and Roger Bessette of Goode, VA. three daughters Lucille Bessette of Middletown, Claire Spiess of East Hampton and Paulette Molis of Lincoln, RI. 11 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by three sisters Yvonne Monroe, Rita Mitchell and Doris Mercier. The funeral will be held Tuesday at 9:15 a.m. from Dougherty Bros. Funeral Home 595 Norwich Rd. Plainfield followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in St. John Church. Burial will follow in St. John Cemetery. Visiting hours are Monday 4-7 p.m. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Laurent and Beatrice Bessette Scholarship Fund, C/O Citizens Bank.
