Lavon "Maj" Bassett, 74, Kendallville, died Saturday in McCray Hospital. He was born in Kendallville July 11, 1910, the son of Ora and Lottie (Weaver) Bassett. He married Audry B. Reidenbach in Fort Wayne July 2, 1935. A lifetime Kendallville resident, he was an attendant at Stonebraker's Mobile Service Station for 50 years. Surviving are his wife; one son, Jerry of Kendallville; two sisters, June Ross, Avilla; and Wilma Harmann of Findley, Ohio. One brother and one half-brother preceded him in death. Services were Tuesday in Berhalter-Hutchins Funeral Home, conducted by Reverend Kenneth Napier. Burial, Orange Cemetery.
