Loving mother and grandmother; 89
CANTON -- Mariam Elizabeth (Smith) Sheridan, of Canton, died Wednesday, September 11, 2013. She was 89.
The daughter of the late Guy E. and Florence (Bassett) Smith, she was born in Woodsville, New Hampshire, and raised and educated in Bridgewater, she had been a Canton resident for over 50 years.
A graduate of Brockton Business School, she had worked in the claims department of Liberty Mutual Insurance Co., as a young woman, and then co-owned and operated R.J. Sheridan Credit Counseling with her late husband.
Mrs. Sheridan was best known to her family for sharing all she had and took special interest in children's, veterans and homeless causes. She loved watching "The Wheel" and "Jeopardy", her garden's, knitting, playing Bingo, dark chocolate, and Dalmatians, and most of all being with her family. In her later years, she had been an active member of the Canton Council on Aging enjoying programs through the Senior Center.
Mrs. Sheridan was predeceased by her husband, Robert J. Sheridan in 1989, and was the sister of the late Ruth McCann and Edward A. Smith.
She is survived by her daughters, Maureen F. Skelly and her husband, Michael of Portsmouth, NH, Andrea Sheridan of Fitchburg, and Suzanne Fillion of Mansfield. She is also survived by her 11 grandchildren; and 21 great grandchildren. SHERIDAN -- Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend Funeral Services in Celebration of Marian's Life from the Roache - Pushard Family Funeral Home, 210 Sherman Street, Canton, on Monday morning at 9:30 a.m. with a Mass of Christian Burial at Saint John the Evangelist Church at 10:30 a.m. Interment will follow at Knollwood Memorial Park in Canton. Visiting hours will be held at the funeral home on Sunday from 3-7 p.m. Expressions of sympathy may be made in her memory to the Canton Council on Aging, 801 Washington St., Canton, MA 02021.
