Doris Thornton Bass

Doris Thornton Bass was born May 28, 1945 in Oxford, North Carolina to the parentage of the late Governor Thornton and Beula Sidney Thornton.
She was married to the love of her life, John Albert Bass for fifty-six beautiful years. Doris entered eternal rest on April 10, 2021 at UNC Hospital in Chapel Hill, North Carolina.
Doris joined Hardie Grove Missionary Baptist Church where she was a Sunday School Secretary, an usher, A choir member (Senior Choir) and a missionary member where she remained until her death.
Doris was educated in the Person County School System where she graduated in 1963. Doris gained employment with No-Non Sense, a personal care assistant and with IVAC where she retired. She enjoyed working in the yard with her flowers.
She leaves to cherish her memory her husband, John Albert Bass of the home. Her love for children, she raised quiet a few: Tony Darby, Anthony Davis, Floyd Thornton Jr., Montell Moore, Butch Thornton, Keith Thornton, Michelle Thornton, just to name a few, three sisters-in-law; one brother- in-law; one uncle, Anderson Sidney of Oxford, NC and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives and friends.
Graveside service will be conducted 12:00 P.M. Saturday April 17, 2021 at Meadowview Memorial Park.
Viewing Friday April 16, 2021 4:00 P.M. until 5:00 P.M. at Betts & Son Funeral Home Chapel.
The family of Mrs. Doris Thornton Bass, thank everyone for all acts of kindness extended to them during this time.
Remember to follow state and CDC guidelines, graveside service and viewing is limited to fifty (50) people and to practice social distancing of six feet along with face covering and good handwashing.
