John B. Bassett, and old resident of this town, died Monday morning after a long and painful illness. He was born in the town of Denmark 66 years ago. He was a soldier in the war of the rebellion and also a member of the G.A.R. He is survived by a widow and two sons, Arthur and Gilbert; also a brother and sister, Moses Bassett, of Felts Mills, and Mrs. Gnott, of Holyoke, Mass. The family have the sympathy of the community. As a friend and neighbor he will long be missed. The funeral was attended Wednesday at 1 o’clock at the house; internment at Talcottville.
