June 21, 1900 [TCC]
West Jackson, June 19.-(special Correspondence)- A fishing party composed of the following: Alice Bassett, Mary Boyle, Toda Stevens and Dora Drown;¼spent Monday at the W.H. Marlow ranch on east Grand river where the day was spent fishing and boat-riding. A sumptuous dinner and supper, was served by the ladies, after which they returned to their homes.
From the notes of W. H. Morrison, "July 25, 1936 - Death of Frank Bassett, age 77yrs. He was former resident of Wheeling. He died in Calif., but is buried in Wheeling Cemetery." From the same source, "Dec. 25, 1943 - Graveside service for Mrs. Frank Bassett who died in Calif. She was 85 yrs. of age. She is survived by 5 sons, Milo, Canton(?), Will [Mike], Horace, Leonard and Fred. Frank Jr. died in 1918, a daughter Mrs. Frank Strong."

Wheeling Items. Graveside services were held Friday afternoon at 4 o’clock in the Wheeling cemetery for Mrs. [Alice Scruby] Frank Bassett, age 85 years, who died at the house of her son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Will Bassett in California July 21st. Services were conducted by Rev. Lloyd Morgan, pastor of the Christian Church. For many years Mrs. Bassett and family resided in Wheeling. Twelve years ago [1931] they moved to California where she has since resided. Mr. [Frank] Bassett and two children preceded her in death. She is survived by five sons Milo Bassett, Canton, Len Bassett, Kansas City, Will and Horace Bassett, California, Fred Bassett, Michigan, and one daughter, Mrs. [Irene Bassett] Frank Strong of Illinois; several grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Funeral arrangement was in charge of the Smiley funeral home. The body was cremated. Mr. and Mrs. Milo Bassett and Mrs. [Irene] Frank Strong were here to attend the services. Len Bassett did not receive word in time to come, spent a short time here Sunday visiting friends. Several relatives and friends from Chillicothe attended the services.
