Steven L. Bassett
Steven L. Bassett, 69, of Salisbury, passed away Saturday, September 19, 2026, at Novant Rowan Medical Center, from complications of pulmonary fibrosis.
He was born April 18, 1957, in Rowan County, to Betty Bassett Honeycutt and the late Edsel L. Bassett. Steve attended East Rowan High School, was of the Baptist faith, and retired from Blythe Construction where he was a tanker driver.
In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his wife, Kimberly Y. Bassett, her daughter, Stephanie Wallce; sister, Lisa Anne Bassett; daughter-in-law, Nicole Bassett; and beloved step-father, Woodrow Honeycutt.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by his sons, Bryan Bassett and Brandon Bassett; sister, Pam Barger (Steve); niece and nephew, Kevin and Stacy Barger; 5 grandchildren, 1 great-granddaughter, 3 step-children, and 7 step-grandchildren.
The family will greet friends and relatives from 12:30 PM until 1:15 PM on Friday, September 25, 2026, at Powles Staton Funeral Home.
The funeral service will follow at 1:30 PM on Friday, September 25, in the chapel of Powles Staton Funeral Home, with the Rev. Mike Shoaf officiating.
Burial will follow at Brookhill Memorial Gardens in Rockwell.
