  Notes	Letter attached to a genealogy chart If you would like, you can write my aunt, Mrs. Hermon Eason (Gladys Bassett) at 508 Forrest, Fayetteville, Arkansas, and she could give you more information. It was she, in fact, who gave me this information. She told me that when some of the Bassett's moved from Georgia, the went to Alabama, then some moved on north into Arkansas. "Grandpa" House, Kilby, and James Richard lived in Greenwood where my grandfather, John Wiley was born. My father was also born in Greenwood, Arkansas. In order that his children get a good college education, my grandfather moved his family from Greenwood (where he had an opportunity to go into the undertaking business) to Conway, Arkansas. All of his children went ot Hendrix College and also his grandchildren. Since he had also attended Hendrix when it was at Altus, Arkansas, our family had the distinction of having three generations of Bassetts going to this Methodist institution. My grandfather was quite a man! and I could go on for hours about him. He was hard worker, and worked till the day he died. When he moved to Conway with the family he bought a farm that would hardly grow crab grass. Well, he turned this into a very productive enterprise, and was able to send hi children through college. He was a very saintly man. It would be nice if we could visit some time. I teach history in a junior high school (I've been here for 19 years), and Donna Jean plays for the First Methodist Church.
