J.W. Burrows officiated. Perry Bassett was born 7/3/1892 in Benloman, ARK, the son of Thomas Edward & Fannie (Falls) Bassett, and died Tuesday, 5/12/1992 in Chickasha, OK. Mr. Bassett came to Chickasha, Indian Territory in the early 1900's. He lived in Grady County for more than 90 years. He and Hazel Mae Burrows were married in 1915 in Ninnekah, OK. She preceded him in death in 1976. Mr. Bassett was a farmer and rancher in Grady county, near Tuttle. He was also preceded in death by 1 son, Larry Dale Bassett, 12 brothers and sister, & 3 grandsons. Survivors include 2 sons, Carl Bassett of Wichita Falls, TX & Earl Bassett of Tuttle, 4 daughters, Justena Brown of Chino, CA, Doris Hamrah of Dallas, Emma Jean Gibbs of Yuma, AZ, & Ins Sue Hurd of Yuma, AZ, 2 sisters, Marie Mitchell of Dallas & Claudia Timmer of Sun City, CA, 3 brothers, Lon Bassett of Vinita, Roy Bassett of Minco, & Fred Bassett of Norman, 8 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren, & 4 great great grandchildren. Interment was in Fairview cemetery, Tuttle, under direction of Sevier funeral home. The Tuttle Times, Oklahoma, Thursday, 6 July 1950 Bassett Reunion Held At Perry Bassett?s Home The Bassett reunion was held Sunday July 2nd at the Perry Bassett home six miles south of Tuttle. Those present with their families, The Clarence Bassett?s of Cherokee, Fred Bassett?s of Chickasha, Tom Bassett?s, Anadarko; Lon Bassett?s Tuttle, Ronnie Bassett?s Tuttle; Roy Bassett?s Cogar; Neil Timmer and family of Chickasha, Lyn Mitchell, Chickasha, Clyde Timmer of Wichita Falls, Annie Bass a granddaughter. There were friends from Lindsay, an aunt from Texas, a cousin and family of Horatio, Ark, and an aunt and family from DeKalb, Texas, Carl Bassett of Wichita Falls, and many other friends. This reunion has been held very year for the last 15 years and will be held next year in Oklahoma City. All the youngsters enjoyed horseback riding.
