Joan Anderson, Robert Bass Exchange Vows in Rose Chapel
Nuptial Vows were solemnized today at 2 o?clock in the Rose Chapel of Boston Avenue Methodist Church for Miss Alethye Joan Anderson, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. R. Logan Anderson, 1909 W. Haskell St., and Robert Woods Bass, son of Mrs. Walter Richard Bass and the late Mr. Bass of Little Rock, Ark.
The Rev. H.E. Gatti officiated at the ceremony before an altar banked with palms and tall floor baskets of summer white flowers. A program of traditional nuptial music was presented by Miss Barbara Benefiel, organist, and Miss Elizabeth Alexander of Helena, Ark., vocalist.
Given in marriage by her father, the bride wore a formal length gown of candlelight tissue taffeta fashioned on princess lines. The bateau neckline was edged with re-embroidered Alencon lace trimmed with seem pearls. A bow accented the waistline and the pleated skirt was trimmed with lace medallions and extended into a chapel length train. Her 4-tier veil of silk illusion was held in place by a lace cap centered with a silk rose and she carried a formal cascade bouquet of white gardenias.
Mrs. R.W. Blair of Bakersfield, Calif., was matron of honor for her sister. She wore a yellow silk linen sheath with 3-tiered skirt, fitted bodice, portrait neckline, cap sleeves and a bow accenting the V-neckline in back. Her pillbox hat was of the same material and she carried a cascade bouquet of white majestic daisies.
Bridesmaid were the Misses Doll Ashby of Benton, Ark., Sue Curtis, Patsy Oxley and Sandy Rosenbum. They wore costumes identical to the honor attendant and carried identical bouquets. Marion Fulk of Little Rock was the flower girl.
Serving Mr. Bass as best man was George Leake of Little Rock. Ushers were Bill Robertson and Ronnie Udouj of Fort Smith, Ark.; George Barnwell of Little Rock, and Walter Anderson of Dumas, Ark.
The bride?s parents were hosts at a reception at the church, immediately following the ceremony. A white and yellow color scheme was used in decorating the bride?s table and the base of the wedding cake was garlanded with daisies and leatherleaf fern.
The couple will return from a wedding trip the first of July and will be at home in Tulsa until Sept. 23 when the bridegroom reports to duty in the U.S. Army as second lieutenant. He was commissioned this month, after graduation from the University of Arkansas where he served his fraternity, Phi Delta Theta, as president and the bride was a member of Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority.
Accompanying Mrs. Bass from Little Rock were Hugh Bass, brother of the bridegroom, and Mrs. and Mrs. A.M. Fulk. Other out-of-town guests were Dr. and Mrs. Walter Bass of Columbia, Mo., and Mr. and Mrs. Blair of Bakersfield.

Aletheye Joan Anderson Bass
ALETHEYE JOAN ANDERSON BASS passed away peacefully, surrounded by family, at her home, in Little Rock, on Friday, Nov. 1. Born March 13, 1941, in Malvern, Ark., Joan was a cherished member of the community and a loving mother, sister, aunt and grandmother.
Joan's family moved a great deal, but they landed in Tulsa, Okla., where Joan went to Central High School. She then attended the University of Arkansas, and met the love of her life, Bob Bass. They married after Bob's graduation. The country was embroiled in the Vietnam war, so Joan and Bob first headed off to Fort Knox in Tennessee for Bob's Army Officer Training. They were then stationed at Fort Lewis in Tacoma, Wash., for his military service. Their first son, Rob, was born in Tacoma. After Bob fulfilled his commitment, Joan and Bob moved back to Bob's hometown of Little Rock, to begin a new life with their growing family.
Best known as a talented interior designer, Joan owned her own business for many years, Joan Bass Interiors. She had great fun working with her dear friend and side-kick, Georgianna Gunn. Together, they decorated a multitude of homes throughout the community. Joan was a great story-teller, and entertained many with her unique wit and wonderful sense of humor.
Joan was a long-time member of Christ Church. She also was a member of the Kappa Kappa Gamma Sorority and the Junior League of Little Rock. Joan enjoyed playing tennis, bridge, and more recently Mah Jongg, sharing many joyful times with friends and family, through these activities, over the years. She and Bob also loved to travel with friends and family, experiencing many unique domestic and international destinations.
Joan is survived by her three sons: Robert Woods Bass, Jr. (Debbie), Logan Anderson Bass (partner, Connie Gettig), and Walker Farley Bass (partner, Heather Brown); two grandsons: Anderson Woods Bass (Kelcee) and Walter Edward Bass (Amisha Parikh-Friese); her sister, Jeanne Blair; niece, Katie Blair Tooley (Matt); and great-niece, Sarah Tooley. She was preceded in death by her parents, Logan and Dorthy Anderson; and her beloved husband, Robert Woods Bass.
A Visitation will be held at Ruebel Funeral Home in Little Rock, Ark., on Wednesday, Nov. 6, from 4 p.m. - 6 p.m. The family will have a private memorial gathering at a later time.
