Hazelene Holland Bass
CLINTON ? Hazelene Holland Bass, born on Oct. 2, 1926 to the late Rebecca (Rich) Holland and Anderson Holland in Sampson County, was married to the late Willie Campbell "W.C." Bass Jr. for 52 years, and died peacefully at 99 on March 11, 2026.
A lifelong resident of North Carolina, Hazelene graduated from Roseboro High School and worked as a plant supervisor in the sewing industry in Clinton and Roseboro. She loved baking and quilting, often providing beautifully decorated cakes for weddings and other special occasions, as well as teaching classes at Sampson Community College. Hazelene enjoyed long walks in nature, with special appreciation for birds and butterflies. Some of her most cherished memories were of the time spent traveling the country with W.C. in their motor home.
Hazelene and W.C. shared a love of gospel music and performed for many years as the Harmony Trio. Both were dedicated faithful members of Harmony Baptist Church and sang in the choir. In 2007, Hazelene relocated to Laurinburg to be near family and thrived there. In the last chapter of her life, the family is grateful for the loving care provided to Hazelene by Autumn Care of Raeford.
Predeceased by her daughter Rebecca Anne (Bass) Blue and Hazelene's only sibling, sister Frances Holland Spell, Hazelene is survived by her son W.
