Kimberleigh Anne Bass
1959-2025
Kim passed away peacefully in her home, after a long hard fought battle with cancer, on March 4, 2025. She was 65. Kim was born and raised in California, and lived in Panama and other places through the years. Kim lived the last 22 years of her life with her friends in the art filled community of Sarasota. Kim's spent most of her career in corporate insurance before moving on to becoming a real estate investor and renovator. She loved and supported many forms of arts and culture. Kim was a committed activist and supporter of both political and social causes and worked extensively as an HIV and Aids Board member in Texas, creating awareness, fundraising and assistance with daily living for HIV/Aides patients. She was also supportive and involved in the Gay Men's Chorus of Dallas. As part of her family legacy, she believed in giving back to her community and dedicated many years of volunteer work at the Streets of Paradise organization in Sarasota, working with people experiencing homelessness by cooking, serving and helping to furnish housing. She loved travelling, animals, theater and a good story, though her greatest love was spending quality time with her very large extended family, circle of friends and her many dogs over the years, (Cielidh being the last). She had recently adopted a stray cat she named Bella. She was so proud of her family and is survived by her 2 older sisters, Dyan and Dana as well as her eight nieces and nephews and ten great nieces and nephews who will remember her always and carry on her legacy. If desired, donations may be made in her honor to Planned Parenthood, the Humane Society of Sarasota or the charity of your choice. Rest in Peace Dear Kim.
