      Leroyce Bass

Leroyce Bass, 88, of Spring Lake, passed away on August 4, 2024. He was born on April 1, 1936, to the late Alva and Fronie H. Bass. Leroyce's life was a tapestry of love, passion, and devotion woven together with his many interests and his deep commitment to his family and faith.
Leroyce proudly served in the U.S. Air Force for 27 years, where he exemplified dedication and service. He retired as a Senior Master Sergeant. Following his distinguished military career, he pursued a Master's in Business Administration (MBA) and went on to have a rewarding career as an instructor and administrator with Campbell University, where he taught economics. Leroyce was a true farm boy at heart who found joy in tending to his garden, pursuing numerous other hobbies, and reminiscing about his youthful days playing baseball. His love for sports was evident in his support for the Carolina Panthers and North Carolina Tar Heels, and he was known to occasionally catch an NC State game as well. Leroyce's enthusiasm extended beyond the sports arena; he delighted in trips to both the beach and the mountains, always eager to embrace the natural beauty of North Carolina. A devoted member of his church, First Baptist Church of Spring Lake, Leroyce enjoyed teaching Sunday School and found great love and satisfaction in his spiritual community.
Leroyce leaves behind a legacy of love and faithfulness. He is survived by his beloved wife of 67 years, Ruby Bass; their children, David L. Bass and wife Carolyn, and Susan Bass Swain and husband Jim Swain; four grandchildren, Elisabeth Bass, Jonathan Bass and wife Caitlyn, Katherine Swain, and Matthew Swain; two great-grandchildren, Alice and James Bass; and a sister, Alpha Bass. Leroyce was preceded in death by one brother and four sisters.
The family will receive friends from 10:00-11:00 AM on Wednesday, August 14, 2024, at Adcock Funeral Home. A memorial service will follow at 11:00 AM, where friends and family will gather to honor and celebrate Leroyce's remarkable life. The burial will commence at 2:30 PM at Riverview Memorial Gardens, Spring Lake.
Leroyce Bass will be deeply missed but fondly remembered for his generous spirit, his love for his family, and his dedication to his community. His legacy will live on in the hearts of those who had the privilege of knowing him.
Flowers are acceptable; anyone wishing to make a monetary memorial, may do so to First Baptist Church Spring Lake, 201 S Main St, Spring Lake, NC 28390.
