      Lucky Phillip Mayfield

      Athens ? Memorial services for Lucky Phillip Mayfield of Tool are to be held Saturday, Feb. 22, 2014 at 11 a.m. Services will be at Providence Baptist Church, 1016 Church Road, Tool. The Rev. Steven Palmer of Tool, and the Rev. Stephen Burnett of Hillsboro will officiate.

      Lucky passed away at the age of 85 on Feb. 9, 2014 at Kemp Care Center in Kemp.

      Lucky was born Feb. 4, 1929 in McKinney to Charlene Watts Mayfield and C.C. Mayfield.

      Lucky graduated from Athens High School in 1945. He had a 22-year career in the U.S. Army as a field surveyor, 12 years service in the U.S. Postal Service in Athens, and 16 years service to Eustace Independent School District as head of maintenance and bus driver.

      Lucky got married June 27, 1959 to Bertha Lucille Johnson in Athens. They were married for 26 years until her death in 1995. Lucky later married Vicki Fuller of Tool in April, 2009.

      Lucky was a resident of Eustace, Mabank, and was living in Tool at the time of his death.

      Lucky was an avid domino and 42 player. He also enjoyed his time as a bus driver taking the football players and cheerleaders to their Friday night games.

      Lucky held a position on the City Council in Eustace as well as being City Judge and Mayor for Eustace. He was a charter member of Purtis Creek Baptist Church in Mabank, and also attended Providence Baptist Church in Tool.

      He is survived by his wife of 4-1/2 years, Vicki Mayfield of Tool.

      Lucky was also survived by his children: son Johnnie Ray Mayfield and his wife Linda Mayfield of Garland; daughter Pamela Kay Mayfield-Rhodes of Mabank; daughter Kathy Inez Mayfield-Pliler and her husband Barry Pliler of McKinney; son Mark Anthony Mayfield of Mabank; son Lee Mayfield and his partner Rick Loudon of Bridgewater, Va.; stepchildren Chris and Anita Baugh of Kaufman; Vic and Debby Kirkland of Tool; numerous grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

      Lucky was proceeded in death by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. C.C. Mayfield of Athens; his wife of 26 years, Lucille Mayfield of Mabank; and infant son Timothy Wayne Mayfield.
