It is with great sadness and a heavy heart, that we announce the death of Mrs. Renate "Rene" G. Bass, 87, of Severn Maryland who passed away on January 25, 2021. Rene was born in Germany to the late Erwin and Frieda-Martha Schuster. While working at a Post Exchange in Germany, she met her husband of 31 years, the late U.S. Army CSM Wilmer C. Bass (retired), of Florida. They were stationed several places including, Wurzburg Germany, Tacoma WA, and Fort Meade MD. Together they raised three wonderful children, son Jason Bass (Diane) of Pennsylvania, and daughters Carol Hanson (Robert) of Maryland and Shirley Martens (Christopher) of Georgia. Among her several jobs, Rene worked as a grocery checker for Giant Foods, a sales manager for Tupperware (Cadetco Sales), and a waitress for Danny's of Baltimore, MD. Following the death of her beloved husband, Rene obtained her certification and worked as a Home Health Caregiver until her retirement. Her hobbies included hosting dinner parties and backyard barbeques, traveling, knitting, reading, gardening, raising chickens, and playing bingo. Rene enjoyed spending time with her sisters, the late Anneliese Fraubesen of Maryland, Karin Schuster-Thompson (Bob) of North Carolina, and Hannelore Walther (Helmut) of Germany, her late brothers Karl Heinz Fraubesen (Waltraud) and Gerhard Schuster (Gerda) of Germany, and their families. She also enjoyed visiting her husband's relatives in Florida and Tennessee She is survived by her cherished grandchildren, Robert Lyons Jr, Amanda Lyons, KaraLynn Eckles, Cassidy Eckles, Lindsey Kulisiewicz (George), Lauren Evans (Matthew), Luke Ballesteros (Regan), 4 great-grandchildren, as well as, several nieces, nephews, and their families. In lieu of flowers, donations in Mrs. Bass' name can be directed to the Alzheimer?s Association and the ALS Association.
