Vestal Bass
Vestal F. Bass, 85, of Harrison, died on Thursday, Aug. 17, 2006, in a local hospital.
A native of Napier, Tenn., he was born on Sept. 7, 1920, to the late Finas and Beulah Sims Bass.
He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Army in the China-Burma-India Theater, where he completed 400 combat hours and 31 combat missions.
Mr. Bass was a watch repairman for over 50 years and attended Tyner Church of Christ. He held membership with Lookout Valley Masonic Lodge 673 F&AM, the Experimental Aircraft Association and the Order of the Eastern Star, Ooltewah Chapter 365.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Paul Bass.
Survivors include his wife, Betty C. Bass; two daughters, Pat (David) Hamlin and Valerie (Wes) Hunt; grandchildren, Beth Kleiman, Amy (Vish) Satyanarayan, Allison (Chad) Eubanks, Marc Hunt and Todd (Natalie) Hunt; brothers, Dewey Bass, John Bass and Glenn (Judy) Bass; sister-in-law, Peggy Bass; and seven great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 20, 2006, in the North Chapel with Minister John Cupp officiating, assisted by the Rev. Walter Dowdy.
Honorary pallbearers will be members of Lookout Valley Masonic Lodge 673.
Interment will follow in Hamilton Memorial Gardens with full military honors.
The family will receive friends for visitation from 4-8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
