He was born November 3, 1939 to the late Wayne and Veronica (Dwyer) Bassett in Plattsburgh, NY. Sam served in The United States Air Force for 3 years in Turkey. He worked as a prison guard for 25 years in New York retiring in 1986. He also was a school bus driver for 18 years. He loved to travel, ride his motorcycle, and he loved to give his companion, Myrna flowers. Sam was a friend to everyone and he considered Arizona his home. He is survived by his companion of 16 years, Myrna Ashcraft; 1 brother, Gerrard (Judy) Bassett; 1 nephew, James Bassett. The Funeral will be 1:00 P.M., Tuesday, January 15 2008 at Owens MOrtuary Chapel 409 N. 1st Avenue in Holbrook with visitation 1 hour prior.
