Marian Malsam Bessette
Marian Malsam Bessette, 81, a resident of Havre, died Oct. 2, 1997, at her residence. A vigil service will be held Tudsday, Oct. 7, at 7:30 p.m. at the Holland & Bonine Chapel in Havre. The funeral Mass will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Oct 8, at the St. Jude's Catholic Church in Havre. Burial will follow at the Calvary cemetery.
She was born on June 7, 1916, at Collyer, Kan., to Sebastian and Lugarda (Fettig) Malsam. As a young child she moved with her family from Kansas to Gildford, where she attended school. The family later moved to North Havre. She attended school in Havre.
On Aug. 29, 1930, at Havre, she married Clyde V. Bessette. The couple spent most of their married life living in North Havre. After Clyde's death she moved to Havre. She worked at the Hiway Grocery and Buttrey Foods until her retirement.
She was a member of the St. Jude's Catholic Church. She enjoyed her family, cooking and walking.
She was preceded in death by her husband, four brothers and two sisters. She is survived by four sons, Tom of Great Falls, David of Havre, Wade of Monarch, and Byron of Ulysses, Kan.; three sisters, Eda Bickford of Lakeland, Fla., Marge Hopper of Ft. Worth, Texas, and Chris Baker of Las Vegas, 12 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
