Robbie May Eliza Bass
Robbie May Eliza Bass, Houston, TX, went on to the Lord on Saturday, October 16, 2021. Robbie was born in McNeill, MS, on November 7, 1928, and she lived a long and beautiful life, passing just three weeks shy of her 93rd birthday. Robbie was born to Mitchell Joseph McAndrews and Stella Loveless McAndrews. Robbie was raised by her loving mother and stepfather, Floyd Jefferson Seal, in Poplarville, MS. She was preceded in death by her father, mother and stepfather, husband, Larkin L. Bass, Sr., and her oldest daughter, Vera Bass DiMaggio as well as her siblings, David, Frank, Claude, Mary, Hester May, Myrena, and Claire Bell, all of Mississippi. Robbie is survived by children Robbie Serio (Pete), Larkin L. Bass, Jr., Connie Alphonso (Rick), Louis G. Bass and son in law Gregory DiMaggio. She leaves behind grandchildren Rebecca St. Philip, Gregory DiMaggio, Jr., Erin Serio, Jennifer Serio, Larkin L. Bass, III, James Jeffrey Bass, Renee Alphonso, Nicholas Koehn, and Evan Bass. She also leaves behind numerous great grandchildren, including Lannie St.Phillip, Cailey St.Phillip, Devin DiMaggio, Logan DiMaggio, Joleen DiMaggio, Chloe Novick, Taylor Bass, Larkin Bass, IV, Alyssa Bass, Candence Bass, Jaxon Bass and Trinity Bass, great-grandchildren Azalea Burkett and Ailani Burkett; and she is also survived by her cherished Labradoodle, Buddy Guy. Robbie grew up and became of age during the Great Depression and emerged an incredibly strong force in her family's lives. As a result, she understood a lot more about life by the time she was legally able to drive a car than many of us learn in a lifetime. Robbie was extremely proud of the fact that she was able to be a loving and devoted daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, and friend to many, as well as a surrogate family member to so many who were not as blessed as she was. She considered herself so blessed to be able to meet her future lifelong soulmate ("Larkin") at the tender age of 12 years old, and she married at 19 years old. Robbie and Larkin were married for 42 years where they made a home and a life in New Orleans, and they were able to raise a family at a time when life just seemed to be a simpler place. Subsequent to Larkin's passing in 1987, Robbie moved to Houston with her daughter, Connie, and Rick. When her granddaughter, Renee, was born in New Orleans, Robbie had another calling --being an incredibly devoted grandmother (as well as second mother) to Renee. They were inseparable (we called them Siamese twins) for such a long time until Renee went off to college. Robbie loved to travel, and, for a modest little girl from Mississippi, she traveled to some of the most amazing places in North America. For almost 25 years, she traveled with Connie and Rick with the American Academy of Attorney-Certified Public Accountants ("AAA-CPA"), and she was the surrogate grandmother to so many children during the AAA-CPA semi-annual and annual Board of Directors' Meetings and Annual Conferences. All of the directors knew and loved Robbie, and she became a surrogate grandmother to all of the directors' children while they attended to AAA-CPA business. In the twilight of her life, Robbie loved to crochet, doing word search puzzles, and spending time in Orange Beach, AL, which was her happy place! She loved the cool breezes and the beach life. Robbie's family wishes to thank her devoted care team at Seven Acres Jewish Senior Care Services, where Robbie resided for the last two and a half years of her life! Her care management team was incredibly devoted to Robbie, and Seven Acres said she was one of the most pleasant residents ever. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Celebration of Life and private interment on Monday, November 15, 2021 starting at 10:30 a.m. to be held at St. Bernard Memorial Funeral Home and Gardens, Chalmette, LA. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that you consider a contribution to Seven Acres Jewish Senior Care Services on the Pauline Sterne Wolff Campus, 6200 N. Braeswood Blvd., Houston, TX 77074, 713.778.5700 ext. 208, in her name. Alternatively, you may consider a contribution to the American Academy of Attorney-Certified Public Accountants Foundation, an organization devoted to promoting the professions of law and accounting through Education programming at their national conferences.
